NAMPA, Idaho β The Bonners Ferry Badgers captured the 2025 Idaho 4A State Basketball Championship with a convincing 65-51 victory over the Snake River Panthers at the Ford Idaho Center on Saturday.
Led by tournament standout Asher Williams, who scored 24 points, the top-seeded Badgers controlled the game from the opening tip, building a 23-14 first-quarter advantage and extending it to a comfortable 42-27 halftime lead.
Thomas Bateman contributed 17 points on efficient 7-for-10 shooting, while Brody Rice added 13 points to round out Bonners Ferry’s balanced attack. The Badgers shot an impressive 58.5% from the field and 78.6% from the free-throw line.
Despite valiant efforts from Snake River’s Marcus Coombs (19 points) and Dawson Jackman (16 points), the Panthers couldn’t overcome the deficit. Their normally potent offense was limited to 44.6% shooting, including just 2-for-13 from three-point range.
A decisive 13-2 run in the first half pushed the Badgers’ lead to 16 points, their largest of the contest. Though Snake River attempted to rally after intermission, Bonners Ferry maintained composure down the stretch.
The championship victory completes an impressive tournament run for Bonners Ferry, who defeated Kimberly, Marsh Valley, and finally Snake River to claim the state title, fulfilling their potential as the tournament’s top seed.
