NAMPA, Idaho — The Kimberly Bulldogs secured the 2025 Idaho 4A State Tournament Consolation Championship with a convincing 55-45 win over the Sugar-Salem Diggers at the Ford Idaho Center on Saturday, earning fifth place in the tournament.
Broden Anthony led the Bulldogs with 20 points, while Gerwin Jeschke recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.
After a tightly contested first quarter that ended in a 9-9 tie, Kimberly seized control in the second period, outscoring Sugar-Salem 21-18 to take a 30-27 halftime lead. The Bulldogs maintained their momentum through the third quarter and sealed the victory with an 11-5 advantage in the final frame.
Kimberly displayed offensive efficiency, shooting 32.3% from the field and an impressive 68.0% from the free-throw line, making 17 of 25 attempts. The Bulldogs also controlled the boards with a 33-30 rebounding edge and capitalized on turnovers, scoring 16 points off Sugar-Salem’s 12 miscues.
Sugar-Salem was led by Riley Williams, who scored 18 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, while Jack Larson added 8 points in the losing effort. Despite Williams’ strong performance, the Diggers couldn’t overcome Kimberly’s balanced attack.
This victory gives Kimberly a strong finish to their state tournament run after falling in the opening round, as they rallied with two consecutive wins in the consolation bracket to claim fifth place overall in the tournament.
