#2 Cole Valley Christian dominated #7 Preston in their 4A State Tournament opener at Skyview High School, unleashing an offensive barrage that culminated in a decisive 23-1 victory to advance to the quarterfinals.

Lola Crosby delivered a performance for the record books, hammering two home runs and driving in an incredible seven runs. Her power display included a three-run blast to left field in the second inning and a grand slam in the fourth that highlighted the Chargers’ remarkable 15-run explosion in that frame.

The Cole Valley offense struck early with two runs in the first inning when Abbie English singled to center field and an error by Preston brought in another run. The Chargers then added six runs in the second inning, powered by English’s two-run single and Crosby’s three-run homer.

But it was the fourth inning that saw Cole Valley completely break the game open with 15 runs on an array of hits:

  • Abbie English doubled to start the rally
  • Brinkley Lauderdale added an RBI single
  • Addy Herrera blasted a two-run homer to left field
  • Lola Crosby delivered the crushing blow with her grand slam
  • Rachel Schaberg capped the inning with a three-run double

Abbie English was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs and multiple stolen bases. The Chargers collected 12 hits total while also drawing 10 walks, showing tremendous plate discipline throughout the contest.

In the circle, Karlie Barnum earned the win with three strong innings, allowing no hits and just one run while striking out five. Lauren Colson and Addy Herrera each contributed shutout innings in relief to complete the dominant performance.

Preston’s offense was limited to just one hit from Paisley Campbell, who went 1-for-2 at the plate. Ellie Keller took the loss for the Indians, allowing 11 runs (9 earned) over three innings.

With the victory, Cole Valley advances to face #3 Weiser in Game 7 scheduled for Friday at 11:15 AM, setting up a quarterfinal matchup between two teams that both showed offensive firepower in their opening round wins.
