The #5 Teton Timberwolves orchestrated a remarkable comeback to defeat the #4 Gooding Senators 9-7 in an eight-inning thriller at the 4A Idaho State Championships, overcoming a five-run deficit to advance in the tournament.

Kara Webster led the Timberwolves’ offensive attack with a perfect 3-for-4 performance at the plate, collecting a double in the fourth inning to go along with singles in the third and sixth innings as Teton steadily chipped away at Gooding’s early lead.

The Senators appeared to be in complete control early, jumping out to a commanding 6-1 advantage after just two innings. Gooding’s offense exploded in the first inning with Kaylee Silver and Mady Morris hitting back-to-back RBI doubles before Olivia Rogers delivered a crushing two-run home run to center field. They extended their lead to 6-1 in the second inning on RBI doubles from Jaelynn Patton and Kodi Garza.

Teton’s lone early run came on Maranda Strong’s solo home run to left field in the top of the second inning, but the Timberwolves refused to go away quietly. They steadily battled back and capitalized on a critical Gooding error in the sixth inning that helped them tie the game at 6-6.

The decisive moment came in the top of the eighth inning when Teton broke through with three runs to take their first lead of the game. Gracie Kincaid delivered a clutch RBI single to the left side of the infield, Kadence Hansen followed with a sacrifice fly, and another Gooding error allowed a third run to score.

Jimmi Williamson was the unsung hero for Teton, entering in relief to deliver 7⅔ masterful innings. After Wombacher was knocked out in the first, Williamson limited Gooding to just two runs on eight hits while striking out five with no walks.

Gooding collected 11 hits in the loss, with four players recording multiple hits. Rogers led with two RBIs on her first-inning homer but took the pitching loss after working all eight innings.

With this upset, Teton advances to face #1 Kimberly in Friday’s quarterfinal at 11:15 AM, while Gooding moves to the consolation bracket.
