TIMBERLAKE STAYS ALIVE WITH 4-2 VICTORY OVER TETON

The #6 Timberlake Tigers continued their tournament run with a hard-fought 4-2 win over #5 Teton in an elimination game at the 4A Idaho State Softball Championships, keeping their championship hopes alive while ending the Timberwolves’ season.

Shae Jones delivered another stellar pitching performance for Timberlake, going the distance with a complete game effort. The Tigers’ ace allowed just six hits and two runs over seven innings while striking out nine and walking four to earn her second victory of the day.

Timberlake took an early lead in the first inning when Jesi Kitchin drove in a run with a groundout, then extended their advantage to 2-0 in the third inning by capitalizing on a Teton error. The Timberwolves fought back to tie the game at 2-2 in the fifth inning when Kapri Eiden delivered a clutch two-run double down the left field line.

The Tigers responded immediately in the top of the sixth, regaining the lead with two decisive runs. Jesi Kitchin broke the tie with an RBI double down the left field line, and Shae Jones followed with a sacrifice fly to push the advantage to 4-2.

Amy McCune was perfect at the plate for Timberlake, going 3-for-4 to lead the Tigers’ offense, while Reese Allaway added two hits. Kitchin drove in two runs with her groundout and double. The Tigers’ defense was also sharp, turning two critical double plays that helped preserve the victory.

Gracie Kincaid collected two hits from the leadoff spot for Teton, while Kapri Eiden drove in both Timberwolves runs. Jimmi Williamson took the loss after allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits over 5⅓ innings.

With the victory, Timberlake advances to face Weiser in Game 11 at 3:45 PM in another elimination contest, while Teton is eliminated from the tournament after reaching the quarterfinals.
