HOMEDALE – Thursday, July 18th, the Trojans retire NFL DL Scott Matlock’s Jersey.
Matlock, an exceptional athlete, has left an indelible mark on Homedale High School. During his junior year, Matlock recorded 59 tackles, 9 tackles for loss (TFL), 4 sacks, and earned 1st Team All-SRV Defensive Lineman and 2nd Team All-SRV Offensive Lineman honors. His senior year was equally impressive with 57 tackles, 9 TFL, 5 sacks, 1st Team All-SRV Defensive Lineman, All-SRV Tight End, East/West Shrine All-Star selection, and the title of Sports Stars’ 2017-2018 Inspirational Athlete of the Year.
Continuing his football journey at Boise State University (BSU), Matlock became a 2-time Second Team All-Mountain West selection. He completed his collegiate career with 115 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, and 3 blocked kicks. The 6’4″, 300-pound lineman achieved a career-high of 49 tackles in 2022 and led the team with 8.5 tackles for loss in 2021.
In the 2023 NFL Draft, Matlock was selected as the 200th overall pick in the 6th round. During his first season with the Los Angeles Chargers, he played 12 games and recorded 15 tackles.
