Chargers Come Back in the Sixth to Down Homedale, 4-3

MERIDIAN, ID — Cole Valley Christian rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Monday night to defeat the Homedale Trojans 4-3 in Snake River Valley Conference baseball action, setting up a rematch between the two teams Wednesday.
The Chargers trailed 3-2 heading into the sixth, but a clutch sequence at the plate flipped the game in their favor. Riggins Palmer singled to plate one run, then Eli Hamby delivered the go-ahead blow — a two-run triple that put Cole Valley Christian in front for good, 4-3.
Pitching Carries the Night
The story of the game was on the mound, where the Chargers combined for just one hit allowed and eight strikeouts across seven innings.
Carson Kile started and turned in a gutsy performance, working five innings and holding Homedale to a single hit. He struck out five and walked two, with all three runs against him coming unearned. Hamby then entered in relief and was untouchable — two clean innings, no hits, no runs, and three more strikeouts to close it out and earn the victory.
For Homedale, Lukas Hall started and kept the Chargers in check for most of the night, going five and two-thirds innings and striking out five. But six walks proved costly, as Cole Valley Christian's patient approach at the plate eventually broke through. Chance Martell came on in relief but couldn't stop the bleeding, surrendering two hits and a run in just one-third of an inning to take the loss.
How Homedale Got There First
The Trojans wasted no time getting on the board. In the top of the first, Xavier Uranga doubled down the left field line and scored on a Lukas Hall groundout to give Homedale an early 2-0 lead. The Trojans tacked on another in the second when Dylan Taylor stole home, pushing the advantage to 3-0.
Cole Valley Christian clawed back with a run in the fifth to make it 3-2 before the decisive sixth-inning eruption.
By the Numbers
Hamby led all hitters with two RBIs on the night, going 1-for-1 at the plate with the triple, two walks, and a run scored. Palmer, Mason Ransom, Chad Timmons, and Carson Pollard each added a hit for the Chargers, who drew six walks as a team — a patient, disciplined approach that wore down Homedale's pitching staff.
For Homedale, Uranga and Hall each drove in a run, while the Trojans swiped six bases on the night — Taylor and Martell each stealing multiple. Homedale also turned a double play in the contest.
Cole Valley Christian committed five errors on the night — a factor that will need to be cleaned up before Wednesday's rematch.
