The #4 Gooding Senators kept their championship hopes alive with a heart-stopping 5-4 walk-off victory over the #8 Marsh Valley Eagles in an elimination game at the 4A Idaho State Softball Championships.

In a game filled with momentum shifts, it was Kaylee Silver who emerged as the hero for Gooding, delivering the game-winning RBI single to center field in the bottom of the seventh inning that sparked a jubilant celebration from the Senators’ dugout and fans.

Marsh Valley had seized control early, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning thanks to Nya Call’s perfectly executed sacrifice bunt that plated two runs, followed by an additional run scoring on an error. The Eagles extended their advantage to 4-1 in the third when Lisa Peck singled down the right field line.

The Senators began their comeback in the sixth inning when Olivia Rogers blasted a solo home run to right field to cut the deficit to 4-2. The dramatic seventh inning saw Gooding capitalize on a costly Marsh Valley error to tie the game before Silver’s clutch hit completed the comeback.

Silver not only delivered the winning hit but also started in the circle for Gooding, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits while striking out two over four innings. Rogers and Fayth Gillette led the Senators’ 10-hit attack with two hits apiece, while Kodi Garza, Silver, Rogers, and Gillette each drove in one run.

Lydia Howell took the tough loss for Marsh Valley after pitching 6+ strong innings, allowing five runs (only three earned) on 10 hits. Lisa Peck led the Eagles offensively, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

With the victory, Gooding advances to Game 10 on Friday at 1:30 PM where they’ll face the loser of the Kimberly-Teton quarterfinal, while Marsh Valley sees their tournament run come to an end.
