THE GRIZZLIES COME OUT ON TOP IN A LAST SECOND EFFORT

FRUITLAND (2-1) 55 | McCALL-DONNELLY (2-1) 54

In the game of the night, the Fruitland Grizzlies survived a nail-biter against the McCall-Donnelly Vandals, escaping with a one-point conference victory that wasn’t decided until the final horn.

McCall-Donnelly’s Sam Scott put on a scoring clinic, erupting for 24 points and keeping the Vandals in the game until the very end. Mike Pallerin provided strong support with 14 points, but it ultimately wasn’t enough to overcome the Grizzlies’ balanced attack.

Fruitland spread the wealth offensively, with three players reaching double figures to counter Scott’s heroics. The Grizzlies proved that depth wins games.

The final sequence will be talked about for a while. With the outcome hanging in the balance, Sutton Fitch came up with a critical steal. Zeke VanHofwegen delivered a clutch assist to find the open man and got fouled. Then, with just 0.4 seconds remaining on the clock, Konnor Clarich stepped to the free throw line and calmly knocked down the game-winner to seal the victory for Fruitland.
