WEISER, Idaho — April 10, 2025
The Weiser Invitational Track and Field Meet brought together athletes from across the Snake River Valley and beyond Friday, with standout performances across sprints, distance, hurdles, and field events highlighting what's shaping up to be a strong spring season.
ON THE TRACK
Jackson Laird of Weiser was the clear headliner on the men's side, taking the 100 meters in 11.34 seconds and following it up with a personal-best 22.51 in the 200 — dominant showings that set the tone for the host Wolverines.
Greer Green of Council had arguably the most complete day of any runner at the meet, winning the men's 400 meters in a personal-best 52.03 and anchoring the Council 4x400 relay team to a first-place finish at 3:36.76.
In the distance races, Weiser's Blake Quinton swept the 1600 and 3200, crossing in 4:52.08 and 10:26.47 respectively — both among the top marks in the region this spring.
On the women's side, Claire Matthews of Weiser turned in the performance of the day in the 3200 meters, winning in 12:04.25. Matthews, who has been one of the top distance runners in the Snake River Valley Conference, continues to build on a strong season. Corianna Parsons, also of Weiser, captured the women's 800 in 2:30.93, a personal best.
Parma's Lily Yeakley was sharp in the women's 200, winning in 25.83, and the Parma girls' 4x400 relay team just edged out Weiser in a photo-finish of sorts — 4:17.46 to 4:17.51.
HURDLES & RELAYS
Fruitland's Brandt Fisher led the field in the men's 110-meter hurdles at 15.34 seconds, a personal best, while Notus' Derrick Huter topped the 300-meter hurdles field at 42.39.
Homedale's Morgan Nicoletti swept the women's hurdle events and also won the women's pole vault at 10'0" — an impressive triple on the day.
In the relays, Parma's men's 4x100 team ran a 45.60, tops in the field. Council's men's 4x400 (3:36.76) and Greenleaf Friends' 4x400 team (3:50.25) also put up strong showings.
IN THE FIELD
Payette's Calvin Shaffer continued to assert himself as one of the region's top throwers, winning both the shot put (52'2.5") and discus (140'6") — the discus mark standing as the longest throw of the day by a comfortable margin.
Weiser's Shayd Crossley cleared 6'0" to win the men's high jump, a personal best, while Homedale's Morgan Nicoletti won the women's pole vault at 10'0" and Weiser's Benjamin Hansen topped the men's at 12'0".
Homedale's Aleczander Campos led the men's long jump at 20'8.5", also a personal best, and New Plymouth's Jeremiah Gustin won the triple jump at 40'10".
On the women's field side, New Plymouth's Laney Hicks won the discus at 107'11" (a personal best), and Garden Valley's Mia Yearsley led the women's shot put at 32'8".
Weiser, as the host school, had one of the largest rosters in the field and placed athletes across nearly every event. Council, Homedale, Parma, Melba, and New Plymouth all showed strong depth across multiple events.
